Language and Culture:
Outpicturing Consciousness

by Suzanne Deakins, H.W., M., PhD.

When I was in China, many things became apparent to me… areas I had never thought about… First the philosophy of China is not specific. In the Germanic philosophy we all were brought up with in America, we expect preciseness and specific thinking. The German philosophy and language (philosophy seems to form language), English, being a form of highly bastardized German, demands beginnings and endings. We start with a point in our thoughts and speech and expect to end at some point. It is on this point 180 degrees opposite of Chinese, both Mandarin and Cantonese; Chinese have no alpha and omega…. There is no alphabet or way of learning in a sequential set of sounds and ideas. There are no specifics and no exactness. Hence what we call poor quality in manufactured products, because preciseness is not an important aspect of their culture, and neither is timeliness.

This means they must memorize everything to learn to speak and read. They have, through the centuries, developed huge memories. All of their early childhood, their games and activities, are set up to teach the child to memorize. Western language has beginnings and endings. We learn through a process of comparison, hence the work of the syllogism and its power. We are specific. We feel the right word is important. Time is important… explore the beginning and ask how will it end. We want to understand the birth of an idea and seek to understand life after death and the ending of our life.

Democracy is based on process. Creativity is based on process. If you look at a lot of artisans in China, you realize they are doing their craft from memory of what they were taught it should look like and be. There is very little exploration of the arts. Body movements and music are the most explored. Creativity, in my observation, takes process thought. You can't be creative through memory alone… You must ask, what is this to look like? Where do I start, what is the middle like? Where will it end?

Capitalism is an art of processes. Seeing a need, exploring the need and developing the idea drives capitalism. It is a process in consciousness of Western philosophy and Germanic background in our lives. It is, to my way of thinking, a byproduct of democracy. Democracy is a process of self government by comparing possible leaders to one another. Democracy is a process. For it to work fully those participating must have choice and will. It does not ensure freedom of speech, freedom to bear arms or or or.. simply the ability to process thought and make decisions by comparison and choice.

Capitalism does not exist within a socialist system such as the government of China. The very philosophy that allows socialism to thrive in China keeps it from being creative. Hence they import German preciseness and English language because inherent in these are the creative bases that produce conscious capitalism.

Capitalism is a process of unfolding consciousness. Without conscious awareness we don't have a democracy nor do we have capitalism. We must be aware and like our language moving out in a manner that allows us to explore and bring back to our thinking observations and comparison of ideas in a syllogistic manner. Through these comparison and syllogistic processes we produce wealth and a flow of energy that the whole globe depends on. It is this process that produces creative new ideas. The new product for America is not information, but this ability to be consciously aware of the processes of thought and how comparisons can produce new ideas and unfolding of mind by being mindful and understanding the flow of mental energy and connections.

Without a consciousness of process we shuffle around as drones on an assembly line, sleeping away in our own sector of reality.

In a nutshell, conscious capitalism is our ability to be aware of thought processes and what is in our awareness and presenting itself. In other words the process of syllogistic reasoning on many different levels producing "real choice" based on knowledge and understanding rather than myth and beliefs.
