If consciousness itself created order - or indeed in some way created the world - this suggested much more capacity in the human being than was currently understood. It also suggest some revolutionary notions about humans in relation to their world and the relation between all living things. What Schmidt was also asking was how far our bodies extended. Did they end with what we always thought of as our own isolated persona, or 'extend out' so that the demarcation between us and our world was less clear-cut? Did living consciousness possess some quantum-field-like properties, enabling it to extend its influence out into the world? If so, was it possible to do more than simply observe? How strong was our influence? It was only a small step in logic to conclude that in our act of participation as an observer in the quantum world, we might also be an influencer, a creator. Did we not only stop the butterfly at a certain point in its flight, but also influence the path it will take - nudging it in a particular direction? ~ Lynne McTaggart (The Field: The Quest for The Secret Force of The Universe, 2002)
The Universe is a pretty big place... if you think about it... DL

We plant bodies into the ground like prayers to God, the images of seeds in a garden hoping for a harvest of eternity to spring forth from the soil of the earth like matter rising from its image in stone to stand upon the sacred ground as a God. But hopes and dreams and prayers of storybook fantasies will do little to produce the melodrama humanity requires when behind the curtain reality is waiting to be understood that immortality exists here and now just as Jesus knew when he said of eternal life in the future: I AM the Resurrection... now. We must hear those words echo in our minds and know for ourselves: I AM the resurrection... here and now. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar

I know when I see you it is me. You know when we feel that, we are free. Maybe we are really almost there. Knowing what we've got is something rare. We've been walking down those streets and we never think twice who it is we might meet. Even if someone drops the bomb, we'll be standing right there still singing our song: Loving you I never have to ask why... loving you I never have to ask why. ~ Derek Lamar (Loving You I Never Have To Ask Why from Thin End of the Wedge)
For cryin' out loud, you know there's no one around
I have finally found I'm in love with you. ~ D.L.

The subconscious mind has often been confused with the Superconscious or Cosmic Mind by students of metaphysics. It is true that tremendous power resides within your subconscious mind and that you can use it to great advantage by knowing how to release its stored-up power. The subconscious is where all the racial memories are stored. When nature wants to create another human being, she releases the pattern which is held in the racial memory of all human beings. This is stored in the subconscious mind. The subconscious knows how to form that child in the mother's womb perfectly in nine short months' time. The chemical formula is within the mother's genes and cells of her brain and body. The Cosmic Mind... ...holds the secret pattern for all creation, but it is the subconscious mind which is the tool within man that nature uses for evolving that pattern. ~ Anthony Norvell (Metaphysics: New Dimensions of The Mind, 1967)
The journey within one's mind will always hold infinite rewards ~ D.L.

“I think life is something that is handed to you on a silver platter, and it is up to you (me) to do something with it.” This answer touched off a long discussion about the phrase “on a silver platter”, including a reference by Gurdjieff to the head of John the Baptist. I retreated—it felt like a retreat—and modified the phrase to the effect that life was a “gift”, and this seemed to please him.
The second question (What do you want to know?) was simpler to answer. My words were: “I want to know everything.”
Gurdjieff replied immediately: “You cannot know everything. Everything about what?”
I said: “Everything about man, ” and then added: “In English I think it is called psychology or maybe philosophy.”
He sighed then, and after a short silence said: “You can stay. But your answer makes life difficult for me. I am the only one who teaches what you ask. You make more work for me.” ~ Fritz Peters (Boyhood With Gurdjieff)
Treat every day as if it were your last... treat every day as if it were your first ~ D.L.

Any human being I happen to observe, covers only those whom destiny has brought under my scrutiny." ~ G. I. Gurdjieff
You want knowledge, but what you have had until today was not knowledge. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff
In order to do, it is necessary to know; but in order to know, it is necessary to find out how to know. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff
Of a hundred yogis, perhaps only one knows these secrets. ~ G. I. Gurdjieff

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. - Plato [427 B.C. - 345 B.C.] (from The Cave)
To be afraid of the light is to be in darkness

"The fact is that no one has ever become enlightened through denying or fighting the body or through an out-of-the-body experience. Although such an experience can be fascinating and can give you a glimpse of the state of liberation from the material form, in the end you will always have to return to the body, where the essential work of transformation takes place. Transformation is through the body, not away from it. This is why no true master has ever advocated fighting or leaving the body, although their mind-based followers often have. ~ Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now)

"The man who is wise with the wisdom of his HIGHER SELF and strong in its strength has other business in hand than passively waiting for new Armadgeddons or planetary cataclysms. He knows that the night will pass, and dawn, silent and irresistible, will roll back the world's darkness and once more flood it with light. When the Truth about the hidden side of the universe and of man is once more unveiled... we shall testify anew to those eternal spiritual Truths which no advance of science, no progress of civilization, no lapse in human character, can ever render obsolete." ~ Paul Brunton (The Secret Path)

Our mental training should consist first in bringing to our attention the most positive words we are capable of understanding, as being a pat of our relationship with the Infinite. In the first lesson of the Science of Supply we are told to fill all the vacant places around us with the Presence of God. This is done by the training I have mentioned. Thus life can be changed from a dreary routine of tasks to be done, to a game that calls for alertness, that we may not miss a trick. Florence Scovel Shinn has struck upon this idea in a most pleasing way in her book, "The Game Of Life and How To Play It." She outlines to a certain extent a manner of rebuilding with positive thought when negation appears. This is what is meant by "filling the vacant places." ~ Eloi-Sun (Old Wine In New Bottles, 1936)
Unleash the affirmations of that which has always been true ~ D.L.

There has never been a better or more urgent time to do "inner work" than now. It isn't a hobby or a creative project... it is the ongoing unfoldment of who you really are. To self-observe and research all of the many spiritual teachings will help you decide what "path" you should choose to be on. It is not about acquiring knowledge but it is about spiritual change... change which alters your "man-state thinking" and translates it into a Higher Communication from the Self to the Self. You will never be the same. Blessings, Dr. Derek Lamar (Q.M.I.)
Real Teaching will expand your knowledge of Reality... DL

Gurdjieff's ability to read men and to play any part that he deemed necessary was of great service to him in the past. When in 1917 he and his followers escaped from Russia they had to pass through a countryside in a state of chaos. Detachments of the rival Red and White armies were hopelessly intermingled, so that it was impossible to foretell which party was in the ascendant in any given district. The only hope of getting through was to be on good terms with both, and this Gurdjieff achieved. By posing as a geologist who had discovered rich deposits of gold in the Caucasus he obtained a loan of two lorries from the Bolsheviks and by equally clever acting he secured permits to carry arms from both the Bolsheviks and from General Denikin's staff.
All that it is possible to do is to give the impressions which Gurdjieff created in me and these can be summed up in the generalization that for me he represented the outcome of the work. By this I mean that he had achieved greater consciousness, control and unity than those possessed by other men. It is true that the consciousness of another person cannot be measured objectively but the greater a man's consciousness, the more control he is able to exercise over his various functions. Everything Gurdjieff did seemed to originate from within. When he became angry, as he sometimes did, his anger had the appearance of being deliberate and it was laid on one side as soon as it had served its purpose. The dark eyes would then regain their twinkle, the stern olive-coloured face would relax and the conversation would be resumed at the point at which it had been suddenly broken off. He never fumbled in his thoughts or his movements. The latter were always purposeful and made with the strictest economy of effort, like those of a cat, and his immense capacity for work was due to this ability of his never to waste energy. ~ Kenneth Walker (Venture With Ideas, 1951)
It is the Teaching which is important, but the Teacher propels the word

One thing in any case is certain: man is neither the oldest nor the most constant problem that has been posed for human knowledge. Taking a relatively short chronological sample within a resticted geographical area - European culture since the sixteenth century - one can be certain that man is a recent invention within it. It is not around him and his secrets that knowledge prowled for so long in the darkness. In fact, among all the mutations that have affected the knowledge of things and their order, the knowedge of identities, differences, characters, equivalences, words - in short, in the midst of all the episodes of that profound history of the Same - only one, that which began a century and a half ago and is now perhaps drawing to a close, has made it possible for the figure of man to appear. And that appearance was not the liberation of an old anxiety, the transition into luminous consciousness of an age-old concern, the entry into objectivity of something that had long remained trapped within beliefs and philosophies: it was the effect of a change in the fundamental arrangements of knowledge. As the archaeology of our thought easily shows, man is an invention of recent date. And one perhaps nearing its end. If those arrangements were to disappear as they appeared, if some event of which we can at the moment do no more than sense the possibility - without knowing either what its form will be or what it promises - were to cause them to crumble, as the ground of Classical thought did, at the end of the eighteenth century, then one can certainly wager that man would be erased, like a face drawn in sand at the edge of the sea. (Les Mots Et Les Choses by Michel Foucault)

If you have looked everywhere for what you are seeking and you can't find it, it is because it is already in your possesion. ~ Lao Tzu (The Mentalist)
If you have looked everywhere for God and you cannot find God, it is because it is within. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
If you have looked everywhere for Truth and you cannot find it, you are living a lie. ~ Dr. Derek Lamar
How many times is this always true?

The answer is simply that you have never focused your desire into one great dominating desire. You have a host of mild desires. You mildly wish you were rich, you wish you had a position of responsibility and influence, you wish you could travel at will. The wishes are so many and varied that they conflict with each other and you get nowhere in particular. You lack one intense desire, to the accomplishment of which you are willing to subordinate everything else. The time you put in, in aimless dreaming and wishing would accomplish marvels if it were concentrated on one definite object. If you have ever taken a magnifying glass and let the sun's rays play through it on some object, you know that as long as the rays were scattered they accomplished nothing. But focus them on one tiny spot and see how quickly they start something. It is the same way with your mind. You've got to concentrate on one idea at a time. ~ Robert Collier (The Book of Life, 1925)
Watch the light and concentrate on the allness of it

Listen! There is but one God, one Self; one I; one Life; one Being. Therefore, for anyone to believe that he is another---such as image, idea, expression, man---is for him to be self-deceived... and thus at the mercy of his own misconception. To illustrate. Every time one seeks to change or spiritualize his thinking, he is unwittingly identifying himself with a personal mind. Furthermore, every time one attempts to heal his body of discord or disease through some kind of thought or prayer, he is ignorantly identifying himself with perishable flesh. So long as one ignorantly assumes the "I" to be where it is not, never can he find himself as I Am ... never can he find Wholeness, Immortality, Peace. Therefore, I Am come! I Am here! Hear ye Me! ~ Lillian DeWaters (Who Am I, 1942)

If God is All that exists (and He is), He must exist as All that has existence. If God is all Action, Omniaction, He must be the Activity of All that acts. Could God, the Substance and Form of All that is formed, be, or become, active in or as something that would oppose, obstruct, or in any way hinder His continuous expression of His own Perfect Being? Would God form His Substance into something that would obstruct His Omniaction? The Activity, the Substance, and the Form are all God expressed; and there is no struggle going on in God. ~ Marie Watts (The Ultimate: Your Self Revealed, 1957)

The uniqueness idea, then, leads to a kind of scientifically grounded open-mindedness, a respect for otherpoints of view, a kind of democracy of the mind. On the other hand, uniqueness is one of those tools which require other tools to supplement it, for in certain respects it cannot stand alone. The reason for this is that the uniqueness idea is, in a sense, a neutral idea. When we say that an entity is unique, we are not saying that it is good or bad, superior or inferior, harmful or harmless. We are merely saying that it is one of a kind. This netral idea does little or nothing for te cause of critical discrimination among unique entities. ~ Gina Cerminara (Insights for the Age of Aquarius, 1973)
Be who you really are and you will discover you are unique

Yes, indeed, when one really sees that his mistake is in ever trying to locate his wealth, his health or his happiness outside himself, in persons, places and things external to him; and when he finally understands that this is actually the reason for all his "want" and his "famine," and for the deprivation of those things which he feels intuitively must rightfully belong to him, then he is willing to confess his folly to his Father within, and also to the world without: for until one acknowledges his mistake, he is not in a position to make amends for it, nor to extricate himself from its painful conditions. ~ Lillian DeWaters (The Price of Glory, 1936)
I am all there is for within is without, that which I seek without is within

Thus life can be changed from a dreary routine of tasks to be done, to a game that calls for alertness, that we may not miss a trick. we find ... (the) charging (of) the I Am or the Indwelling Mind to bring forth or establish certain things. This method has many good points, but in the hands of a novice in Truth it arrives at a place of being nothing on earth but mental or auto-suggestion. This eventually brings on a state somewhat akin to self-mesmerism. One of the first things to be remembered by one taking up this study is: Of myself I can do nothing. The Father indwelling, He doeth the works! ~ Eloi-Sun (Old Wine In New Bottles, Honolulu, HI 1936)

What we are looking for is what is looking. ~ St. Frances of Assisi
If the nature of reality is itself holographic, and the brain operates holographically, then the world is indeed, as the Eastern religions have said, Maya: a magic show. Its concreteness is an illusion. ~ Karl Pribram
What appears to be a stable, tangible, visible, audible world, is an illusion. It is dynamic and kaleidoscopic -- not really "there". What we normally see is the explicit, or unfolded, order of things, rather like watching a movie. But there is an underlying order that is mother and father to this second-generation reality. He called the other order implicate, or enfolded. ~ David Bohm
All of life is a hall of mirrors no matter how you look at it, but the key is deep within each of us. As we discover that key, the walls begin to come down and what issues forth is the realization that God has quite an imagination. ~ Derek Lamar, metaphysicist
The new science and the 21st century mind are on a collision course where worlds collide and heaven emerges
There is nothing real which stands between you and your desires

To those who may long to reach the way of Spirit, yet do not clearly discern it, the Teacher repeats: You can clearly understand that the Thinker must be greater than his thought, that the Manifester must be higher than his manifestation; thus you are above thoughts of any kind, above trouble, above disease, above death, above the pairs of opposites. The "I" or "Me" of the self is the real self, the Christ self --- pure, imperishable Spirit. ~ Lillian DeWaters (The Finished Kingdom: A Study of The Absolute, 1924)
